Permits handled
Standby generators need both an electrical and a gas permit. We handle approvals with the City of Airdrie, City of Calgary or Rocky View County.
Sized for your home
We size the generator for your furnace, A/C and appliances, and add load management where it's needed so it isn't overloaded.
On-site assessment
After you send the form, we visit to plan the generator location, gas run and transfer switch, then give you a written quote.
Gas line included
We work with licensed gas fitters to run the piping, connect natural gas or propane, and test everything with the electrical work.
Frequently Asked Questions
What's the difference between a standby and a portable generator?
A portable generator needs manual setup, extension cords and fuel. A standby generator is permanently installed, runs on natural gas or propane, and starts automatically within seconds of an outage.
How much does a standby generator installation cost?
It depends on the generator size, how far the gas line has to run and what your electrical panel needs. After a site visit we give you a written quote covering the generator, pad, transfer switch, gas connection, permits and installation.
Do you handle the gas line hookup?
Yes. Viking Electrical manages the whole project and works with licensed gas fitters to run the piping, connect the fuel line and test everything alongside the electrical work.
